Abstract

Is God real? Everyone has their own opinions on this matter, but for me he is absolutely real. My faith comes from a few different things. The first thing that helps me with the factual basis of the question is the First Cause Argument theory. Next is my heart. I believe in the will of God. I believe that if you are patient and wait for things God will answer your prayers.

The question of God being real has been a great debate for a long time. Many famous philosophers have argued their points for years; including Plato, Aquinas, Anselm, Leibniz, Hume, and Descartes. All of these philosophers have their own theories of God’s existence and all of them have some kind of logic to them. They have all came up with good arguments to support their theories.

The theory that makes the most sense to me would be that something cannot come from nothing. I know in order to have an effect there has to be a cause, or vice versa. Even though I don’t think there will ever be a philosopher, or anyone for that matter, that will be able to prove the existence of God; and make everyone a believer, this theory will help people with the process of believing, along with the help of God himself.

This theory is called The First Cause Argument or Cosmological Argument. This argument seeks to prove the existence of God from the fact that the universe exists. The universe came into existence at a point in the distant past. Nothing can come into existence, though, unless there is something to bring it into existence; nothing comes from nothing. There must therefore be some being outside of the universe that caused the universe to exist. (http://www.existence-of-god.com/existence-of-god.html)

This theory, I think, is the easiest one to understand. If you think about anything at all there had to be a creator of it. We all have mothers and fathers and too they have mothers and fathers and so on all the way back to when our great creator created people....
