The emergence of the Internet has influence users across the country. The user-friendly Internet we know of today is a complex of the past. Whether the internet is used for personal, business, or education the way people use the internet has changed. The Internet has emerged to text, music, video, and cable. The Internet is deliverable through phone lines (dial up), cable (DSL), or portable wireless (Wi-Fi). The roles of Internet are hosting content network, centralized marketplace, media search engine, and alternative delivery system (Conhaim, 2006).

The Dotcom boom was fund by Wall Street and investors were investing any lucrative idea that seems profitable. Millions of dollars were invested into non-profiting companies. For instance websites endorsed by celebrities’ investors were funding the website without researching the company business plan. In 2000 when the stock market crash the companies investors lost tons of money. The dotcom failure led to five hundred dotcoms with initial investment of $1 million or more to cease operation from the beginning of 2000 to the middle of 2001 (Razi & Tarn, 2004). Companies relied on investing in promotion because the internet was the new wave of the era. Another failure of the dotcom was not meeting customer expectation. Companies were overloaded with orders and not able to send out merchandise as quickly. Some companies after the dotcom boom sold out or bankrupt. The old dotcom companies that remain strategize but still did not meet the expectations of profit. Under the web 2.0 release businesses managed funding more than ever. Strict security was enforced because consumers before did not worry about credit card fraud.
