Abstract
Times are changing so quickly that sometimes it is almost like we have been left with the old way while others are already jumping in feet first with the new. I find myself the entire time still living in the past because I am just not ready for the present day way. However, in order for businesses to thrive today it is essential that they now and understand all of the new and sometimes challenging approaches that will increase productivity, engage workers and encourage growth. "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect" (Romans 12:2).
Leadership across Cultural and Generational Lines
People born between 1946 and 1964 are called “baby boomers.” Their business ethics along with the way they think is different than the people that are considered “Millennials.” Millennials were born between 1977 and 1998. These people along with people born between 1965 and 1976 “have values and work styles that are completely different from the baby boomers” (Mind tools, 1996-2015). Generations X and Y try to have an equal balance of work life and non-work life while the Baby Boomers see working longer hours shows their leader that they are dedicated employees.
This assignment really hits home because I do not like to think of myself as the “older generation.” I am 35 years old but I was taught proper work ethics by my mother. We have several different age groups just in my department and I can totally relate to the different ideas that each group has.
