Global Warming

Global warming is something that no longer faces future generations. Changes to the climate are being recorded and documented across the planet. Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of Earth's surface and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation. There has been a lot of data collected and analyzed over the years to determine the rate and cause of global warming.

The most striking evidence of a global warming trend is closely scrutinized data that shows a relatively rapid and widespread increase in temperature during the past century. This data can be seen at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies. Research at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) emphasizes a broad study of global change. The studies combine two or more professions, technologies, departments that address natural and man-made changes in our environment that occur on various time. GISS analyzes Surface temperature using an analysis scheme that was defined by James Hansen in the late 1970’s. This method was “a method of estimating global temperature change was needed for comparison with one-dimensional global climate models” (NASA Goddard Institute of Space Studies, 2010). In the first publication using this method it was stated that “the global temperature rose 0.2°C between the middle 1960s and 1980, yielding a warming of 0.4°C in the past century” (NASA Goddard Institute of Space Studies, 2010). Some improvements in the analysis were made several years ago including use of satellite-observed night lights to determine which stations in the United States are located in urban areas, the long-term trends of those stations being adjusted to agree with long-term trends of nearby rural stations. “The current analysis uses surface air temperatures measurements from the following data sets: the unadjusted data of the Global Historical Climatology Network, United States Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) data, and...
