Two effects of organized religion has on people are organized religion is a way most people live their lives by and a way to honor GOD. Organized religion also promotes unity, strong church values and a way to express their belief of God. Organized religion has negative and positive effect on today’s society.
One positive effect of organized religion is in the way groups of religious members will be the first to step up and help others in need without thinking twice. I know when Hurricane Katrina hit August 29, 2005 and a group of organized church volunteers helped people they did not know. They went house to house with food, clothes and a prayer for those that were in need. They were not only helping with the passing of food and clothes, they were helping rebuilding homes, rebuilding other churches and schools. This wonderful group also helped my cousin and her family during this horrendous time.
A negative effect of organized religion is when they claim to love God, but hurt other people due to racial difference. One example is the group KKK (Ku Klux Klan). The Ku Klux Klan is an organized religion that mostly targets blacks or any race that is not a “pure” white race. On the web site http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/05/06/ku-klux-klan-leader-killed-female-recruit/, a KKK member was arrested for killing a lady, who was in the process of becoming a member, because she refuses to a “rite of passage” at a KKK training camp in 2008.
Organized religion was designed to promote unity, love, and peace, and for the most part it has, but at the same time it can also bring out the evil side of humans.
