Applying for an exchange program has become something that every college student looks forward to. Why are we attracted to this opportunity? What aspects of exchange pull us to take the time to prepare for the tests and certifications that help us get qualified for it? In my first year here in Guanghua School of management, I didn’t have specific reasons for applying for the exchange program. I was an excited freshman, ready for new experience. Exchange used to be a passageway to a new place, new people and new knowledge. After a year and a half in Peking University, I realized that exchange was more than the ‘new’ that I craved for.

‘Globalization’ is an unavoidable topic concerning the employment of talented people. Organizations and individuals in our generation no longer regard the boundaries of their motherland as an obstacle for their development. They consider the world as their stage and they want young talents who don’t hesitate to go with the flow called ‘globalization’. China is definitely in the center of the stream of ‘globalization’. This is also the reason I chose Peking University as my alma mater. Guanghua School of Management has not only provided me with the rich resources to study but also gave me infinite opportunities to develop as a globalized talent. I consider this exchange program as one of them. If understanding China is a must to become a ‘globalized’ talent that the society needs, taking part in the exchange program is an important step towards reaching that goal. For the past seven years of studying in China, I was lucky enough to experience the people and life in China. Through this special opportunity called exchange, I mean to experience the other side of the world. To become a truly ‘globalized’ talent, I believe that the ability to understand different worlds is the most basic skill required.
