STOP THE DRILLING!!!!!

There has been a high volume of comments from citizens that are greatly concerned about the drilling that is taking place in the arctic by Shell Oil. Nearly 19,000 people have send emails as well public comments to the government trying to convince them to stop Shells Oil’s plans to drill for oil in Beaufort Sea which is the home of polar bears and the endangered bowhead whales.

Offshore drilling is very dangerous and it is risk taking when it comes to hurting animals as well as ourselves due to oversights and man made mistakes when drilling thousands of feet below the sea. Did we not learn from the last years mistake made that caused the Gulf oil spill and all the damage that was done to our water as well as the killing of animals?

According to the Presidents Oil Spill Commission Report, there was not enough research put into drilling into water because too much pressure from the drilling caused a blowout and the flow of oil from the rocks could not be controlled.

I feel that this is a moral issue that should effect us all because if for some reason a mistake is made and another oil spill occurs, this could kill the last of the endangered species that we have left in the world as well as do other damage to our ocean and effect others peoples jobs like fisherman and marine biologist.

The government should understand that although oil is needed for energy, if the drillers don’t know what they are doing then more mistakes will be made such as oil spills and damage to animal’s homes as well as even death. I feel that more people need to learn how to conserve energy and stop the drilling in one of America’s last homes for endangered animals just to make a profit and take into consideration how we as people feel about this issue.
