C. Wright Mills was one of the first to write about sociological perspective in his book, the sociological perspective. He wrote in his book that the task of sociology was to understand the relationship between individuals and the society in which they live. Social imagination can be defined as the ability to see the societal patterns that influence the individual as well as groups of individuals. Some troubles and issues of social imagination depend widely on the individual and group being affected. We may not notice it but think about our appearances for example, how much time and effort and thought is put into how well we look every day. If you are trying to achieve a particular look you our most likely doing so because of social forces that established certain social standards. Issues and troubles concerning social imagination for example could be discuss in today’s unemployment rate. For one that unemployed a personal trouble would obviously be finical stability. The issue now was arrived by the trouble, on a larger scale everyone individual trouble can become a society issue.

Cultural relativism is the principle that an individual human's beliefs and activities should be understood by others in terms of that individual's own culture. It was established as axiomatic in anthropological research by Franz Boas in the first few decades of the 20th century and later popularized by his students. Ethnocentrism is judging another culture solely by the values and standards of one's own culture. Ethnocentric individuals judge other groups relative to their own ethnic group or culture, especially with concern for language, behavior, customs, and religion. With both definitions come positive and negative effects. Some positive effects of ethnocentrism are pride and standard, having pride with oneself because of socialization of being involved with one group and fitting to their standard.
