I have chosen to find a solution to the problem of time management, one that many people along with students face in their daily lives. People who do not manage their time correctly find that tasks do not get finished on time or at all. Procrastination and getting overwhelmed all effect time which leaves less time for personal time. To find a solution to the problem, it is essential to research general causes of the problem and look for tools that can be used to help with the issue as well as the ways to apply the tools successfully.

The first step in making a time management strategy is to overcome poor time management skills and to understand what time management is. “Time management allows you to complete work on a reasonable schedule and minimize stress” Carter, Bishop, & Kravits (2007). The purpose of time management is to accomplish goals by effectively constructing and managing one’s schedule.  “Goal achievement is directly linked to effective time management.” Carter, Bishop, & Kravits (2007) If a person fails to set a strict schedule that includes all their tasks, goals, and responsibilities in a realistic timeframe, it can be difficult to accomplish everything in time if you do not stick to the schedule.

Information on time management can be found all over the web. The internet offers plenty of information and with a quick search of the internet for the topic can bring up thousands of websites. Some websites can be vague, while some may describe the problem as well as offer suggestions. There are also many books and articles about time management. When looking at books about time management it is often useful to read reviews written by people have read the book.
