Decisions in Paradise

Kava is a south pacific island that has the potential to become a true paradise. Unfortunately, several recent natural disasters have left the island in complete disarray. The population of Kava is made up of mostly youth; more than 50% of the people in Kava are under the age of 15. The young people of Kava need a sanctuary from the adversities of the island, a place that is safe and that can offer the community opportunities for rebuilding along with opportunities for education for all ages. A community center would be ideal for the people of Kava. The Kava Community Center would offer a unique experience for the all the people of Kava. The community center will provide childcare, educational programs for all ages, a gymnasium and workout facility, a computer lab, recreational activities as well as programs for adults designed to help them learn new job skills.

Organizational and Environmental Obstacles

Kava thrives on its recourses. These resources are bananas, cocoa, coffee, fishing, natural gas, petroleum, sugar, spices, tourism, and inexpensive, quality labor. With the availability of such labor, the new community center will be constructed using as many local workers as possible along with the necessary skilled technicians. This will create a much needed increase in Kava’s economy as well as providing the company with an inexpensive alternative to contracting out the labor. The construction duration for this project is projected to last for no more than eight months.

Advertising and Competition

The Kava Community Center would be the first of its kind in Kava, providing the people with services that have never before been available to them. Because Kava is a small island, advertising has been done mostly through word of mouth so the cost of advertising will be very.
