Medical Department Position

THESIS: This outline will show how a major medical facility’s human resource department will identify and give positions within department which have opportunities for employment and how the department will create a job description to recruit the appropriate employees for its upcoming job opportunities within. This outline will also show the process in which an interview will be conducted within the department for which the job opportunity is becoming available thereby creating a list of interviewing questions and over viewing the ethical codes of conduct and polices and skills and qualifications which are specific to this particular job opening as an emergency room senior patient care assistant.

I. Staten Island University Hospital

A. Staten Island University Hospital was founded in 1861(SIUH, 2008). The hospital started out as a one-room infirmary that was to meet the needs of the island medically-indigent. In 2001 the hospital has 813 beds in its hospital. In 1894 they had the first Training School for nurses training eight women (SIUH, 2008). Over the years this hospital has grown in size and the type of care provides. With all of the new medical advancements involving medicine, surgeries, and technology, Staten Island University has become the hospital to all Staten Island residents and for two year straight, the hospital is ranked as one of American top 100 hospitals.

B. The department that is being used is Patient Care Services. Patent care services has the goal of being “The primary objective of this job is to improve quality, treat and support patients and family members in a caring professional manner and fulfill the hospital’s mission to serve our patients and their families by giving appropriate care to patients according to assignment & assist the Registered Professional Nurse as directed” (SIUH, 2008).
