How Does Children Effect a Marriage

Children are a wonderful blessing whether a couple is married or not. Single parent’s deals with the affect as well but it affect married couples the most. Before a couple have kids, they enjoy each other’s company in the comfort of their home the laughter, joy, the finances are not a major issues and quite times becomes a norm. The joy of starting a family is a dream of all married couple but the effects of kids can be damaging to any marriage. The birth of children can bring a negative impact on the couple such as raising stress, and reducing the satisfaction levels of both the husband and wife. Many individual insecurities are exposed during this time and the couple’s unresolved issues may come to light during the stress of being new parents.

There are many reasons that this time period can be challenging. When you get married, you learn the art of compromise and how you have to make an effort to think about each other's needs. After a while, it becomes second nature, then you throw a baby in the mix and the baby's routine becomes the primary focus, and the needs of the parents become secondary or not a concern at all. The first child most often brings about the greatest life and relationship change, but each following child affects a couple almost exponentially, widening the scope of responsibilities and compounding family and relationship dynamics. A baby will change almost every component of your life: physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, relational, social, financial, and spiritual. Sleep deprivation makes it harder to cope well with stress and makes mood swings and anxiety worse. The lack of sleep causes a fight about whose sleeping more or less. Because couples are extra agitated and stressed, they might argue more in general. And the primary caregiver may feel unsupported and alone and eventually resent their spouse.
