Graduate Work and Becoming a Better Manager

Describe why you enrolled in this program and what you hope to accomplish by obtaining this degree.

I enrolled in the MBA in Corporate Finance program at Walden to further my knowledge in finance. I believe that not only will I further my knowledge I will gain a great advantage in the job market. Once I obtain my degree it will separate me from those in my field with just an undergraduate degree moving me into more of a leadership role.

How do you believe graduate school will be different from an undergraduate program? What skills do you want to personally develop to be successful in graduate school, and how will these same skills assist you in your professional life?

I believe that graduate school will be different from an undergraduate program in a couple of ways. The first way is that in an undergraduate program you are being introduced to new information. That new information is built upon in graduate school with analysis and critical thinking to solve real world problems. The second difference between the two is the type of work you will do. In an undergraduate program you answer questions based on someone else’s theory. In graduate school you take the problem solving it with your knowledge then support it with data you find.

The skills that I personally want to develop are better time management and written communication. Those skills will assist me in my professional life by creating a better flow to my day with good time management. With better written communication skills I will be able to communicate my thoughts and ideas fully to my coworkers and collogues.
