My rbi is on importance of maintenance and responsibility of equipment. I guess I’ll start with the reason I am writing this is I let a battle borrow my ach out of my truck and failed to ensure that it was returned and when I needed it I did not have it. Importance of maintaining equipment, if you have something takes care of it so it lasts longer. Not just that but if something is well maintained it works better. We constantly are checking are vehicles and weapons to make sure they work correctly, according to http://www.buzzle.com/articles/importance-of-preventive-maintenance.html this is called preventive maintenance. According to the article “preventive maintenance is steps taken to keep all equipment in a better condition and not wait till it is in dire need of maintenance. It is designed in such a way so that it can handle unexpected maintenance requirements.” So it’s pretty much a way to keep equipment in top condition until it is needed for things such as missions, tasks, or even layouts. Maintenance could be as simple as cleaning it, putting a patch over a hole in a bag, or it could be changing the oil in a vehicle, putting winter tires on the vehicle. Now that we have gone over what preventive maintenance is let’s talk about the benefits of preventive maintenance. The obvious thing is it lasts longer but its more than just that. According to the article stated above,” It conserves the energy and life of the equipment, as it is less taxing if it goes through regular maintenance programs” now what does this mean conserving energy and life of the equipment. Well conserving life could mean making its wear out date delayed by X amount of time, conserving energy I’m really not sure in a vehicle I would say it’s trying to save the battery but on a Kevlar I would not even know what energy you are trying to save.
