I cannot think of a specific theory that I have tested in the recent past. I tend to look at any problem with an analytical mind. For instance, I recently was building a computer for some friends of mine. When I first tried to turn it on after putting everything in place it did not want to turn on. At this point I got a little confused. The computer was almost exactly the same as the one I had built for myself less than a year ago. I had to figure out what the problem was. I tried replacing parts from my computer in theirs to test them when I did that it turned on fine. I put the parts that came with their computer back in. this time it turned on fine. It turned out that there was one extra plug for the motherboard that did not need to be plugged in and I did not plug it in when I replaced the parts that came with it.

The informal research method I used was to try and find an answer on the internet. I also used trial and error and restarting from the beginning. Any research methods are similar to others in that I tried to find an answer to my problems by finding others with similar problems on the internet. I also tried multiple solutions until I found one that worked. Trial and error is an excellent choice when it comes to finding a solution.

The funny part of this situation deals directly with what I should have done differently. My friend’s wife suggested unplugging things one at a time to see what the problem was. This would have saved me time when I switched out parts to test the pieces. We both laughed at how I should have listened to her and the problem would have been solved earlier. It just proves to me that even though I have the experience to do the work an idea from someone who does not know how to do it can make the difference.
