ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH, A NECESSITY FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT.

Environmental health and proper sanitary conditions have impacted a great deal to the normal functioning of the human body among individuals from several nations of the world. A healthy living promoted by environmental health must be upheld and collectively salvaged together in order to prevent the total degeneration and loss of lives due to diseases and/or other health hazards. As such, we cannot all sit and criminally pretend that our environment has nothing to do with our health because if this happens, it would be the worst ‘nightmare’ in the history of human development.

What do we mean by the term, environmental health? Environmental health is the branch of public health that is concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environment that may affect human health. Other terms that concern or refer to the discipline of environmental health include environmental public health and environment health and protection.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), environmental health is defined as:Those aspects of the human body, human health and diseases that are determined by factors in the environment. It also refers to the theory and practice of assessing and controlling factors in the environment that can potentially affect health.

Nevertheless, health at its simplest, the absence of physical and mental disease. A wider concept promoted by the World Health Organization is that all people should have the opportunity to fulfil their genetic potential. This include the ability to develop without the impediments of poor nutrition, environmental contamination, or infectious diseases.

Understanding the concept of environmental health is fundamental to promoting human development. Meanwhile, in retrospect and recently, certain health hazards set in. These are environmental factors that are known to cause, or are suspected of causing disease. The main types of health hazard are...
