Auscos Pty Ltd. (APL) is an Australian Company manufacturing herbal cosmetics & toiletries. Due to enormous success of its products in domestic & export market, APL is planning to set up manufacturing facility in South Africa. The attractiveness of each country to compete against others as an investment destination or attractive market is significantly determined by its Strengths, Weakness, Opportunity & Threats (SWOT). The emerging black middle class is driving the growth of many products within the cosmetics and toiletries market in South Africa in 2007. It accounts for big, previously untapped consumer segment, which are increasingly becoming aware about the types of products on offer, their benefits, particularly those specifically developed for ethnic South Africans.
Leading manufacturers extend brands into complimentary areas
South Africa’s leading manufacturers in this industry have used their leading brands by extending them into other, complimentary areas. Leading brands in skin and body care category are extending into male-specific products, for example. Similarly, brands that are strong in areas such as bath and shower products are extending into deodorants.
