Quality and Elements

Quality is in the definition of satisfaction found in the terms of an agent. An agent is an individual or group that has needs to fulfill by finding a product, service, place, or another person who meets or exceeds his or her expectations. Because quality has everything to do with the end user, quality is refereeing to products, services, people, processes, and environments. Therefore, quality is a preference of an agent, who’s like or dislikes do change over time. Although quality is measured by the needs met, quality changes as quickly, and as often as the economy’s preferences. Quality does not mean the same thing to everyone, and is never a constant. Therefore, knowledge of change in preference is a necessary element to measure quality along with meeting or exceeding expectations of the world’s products and services users (Goetsch & Davis, 2010).

A Pioneer’s Success

The concept of Total Quality is a comprehensive approach to doing business developed by many individuals. However, one of those contributors who is best known for his role as a visionary are because of his new philosophy and technique of no waste business approach, notarized for his statistic in quality. Deming was a man of simple means who appreciated the economy and thriftiness. Deming attended three different schools; University of Wyoming, University of Colorado, and Yale. Holding a bachelor’s degree in engineering, a master’s degree in mathematics and physics and a doctorate in physics Deming pioneered the use of statistics in quality. The concept of statistics in quality was of no interest to United States corporations back in the 1940 until after World War II. Although the United States has little need for Deming statistics in quality, Japanese leaders understood that the key to competing international was quality.
