Hinduism

The Hindu religion despite having many different complex varieties of religious paths, there are many which have been unified such as Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. There are still many other Indians religious ways that have been categorized as if they were as a single religion which is called Hinduism. Hinduism does not have a single founder, or a specific theological system, a single system of morality, or even a central religious organization such as Christianity or other Western religions. It consists of about a thousand different religious groups that have evolved in India since 1500 BCE. Hinduism has grown to become the third largest religion and is considered to be the oldest organized religion. They follow the scriptures of the Vedas. The oldest of the known Vedic scriptures—and among the oldest of the worlds existing scriptures—is the Rig Veda. This praises and implores the blessings of the devas—the controlling forces in the cosmos, deities who consecrate every part of life. Today it is often referred to as the preferred name of Sanatana Dharma, Sanatana meaning “eternal or ageless” which reflects the belief of the ways that have existed. Dharma, which is translated as “religion”, which encompasses the duty, the natural law, social welfare, ethics, health, and transcendental realization. Dharma is thus a holistic approach to the social coherence and the good of all corresponding to order in the cosmos. (Axia college chapter 3) Most forms of Hinduism are henotheistic religions. They recognize a single deity, and view other Gods and Goddesses as manifestations or aspects of that supreme God. Henotheistic and polytheistic religions have traditionally been among the world's most religiously tolerant faiths. (Religious Tollerence.org)
