Personal Reflection

At the commencement of each Activity Led Learning (ALL) assignment, I panicked a lot and I had the mind set of not being able to contribute anything useful and meaningful, whether it be in a group or individual task. Although most of the activity led learning assignment was based on group work, working in a group has not always been my preferred style of learning as I prefer to work at my own pace and also because of the limitations associated with group work. This meant that I would need to adapt to such working conditions and meet the agreed deadline of the group. However, I am delighted with the progress I have made and the overall experience of the ALL particularly because it has enabled me to develop my communicational skills which is one of the areas that I strongly continuously endeavour to improve on. It has also boosted my time management skills as I have the habit of procrastinating. I am extremely happy with the good marks and feedbacks so far from the Activity Led Learning assignments.

For all the ALL group work, we used Bruce Tuckman’s idea of team development. The formation and storming stages were relatively easy because Tom Sermon (group member) had more knowledge on the industry than the rest of us, although we were not too familiar with ourselves. However, the norming and performing stages were quite difficult. This was due to the time management of our group members. I in particular, found it difficult to find information and write a summary for the first two ALL assignments. I also felt that the information I had found and the summary I had written was insufficient and not of good standard. My inability to write a summary delayed the performing stage of our task.

The fourth Activity Led Learning assignment which was an individual task (Phantom Company) was particularly challenging because it required creativity, a skill that I do not feel I possess. This task enabled me to think and visualize although I did not...
