Assisted Reproduction, also known as ART, is a method intended to assist barren couples become and then maintain a pregnancy (Berger, 2014). ART can relieve the affliction of unproductiveness on persons and families. ART consist of all fertility therapies involving how both the sperm and eggs are processed. Over-all, ART techniques involve surgically extracting eggs from a females ovaries, joining them with the man’s semen in the laboratory, and restoring them back to the female’s body or giving them to a different woman.

Another form of ART is Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer, also known as GIFT. This procedure is performed by “recovering the ova by laparoscopy and then transferring of gametes into the fallopian tubes during the same operation” (Meirow, & Schenker, 1995). According to one source, the average cost of the GIFT treatment is around $5,731 which is said to be a cost-effective option compared to other ART treatments (Silva , Olson & Meisch, 1998). Some risks with gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) are the probability of responses to drugs and numerous births. GIFT, furthermore has the additional risks that has part with procedures that includes the usage of a general sedating and operation (Meirow, & Schenker, 1995). It is also stated that one substantial drawback of gamete intrafallopian transfer over other fertility therapies, in example vitro fertilization (IVF), is that less women qualify for the technique. Women choosing to go through GIFT must have at least one strong fallopian tube, because the fallopian tube influences greatly into the technique.

There are some advantages of GIFT. It may have a to some extent greater achievement ratio than IVF as far as the deliveries per egg recovery.
