The writer was introduced to the processes and the purpose of research and how it is applied to health care. The writer has also been exposed to the importance of statistics while exploring many methods of research and analyzing elements that are key components within evidence-based health care. As a Health Care Administrator, I will be involved with determining what research methods is needed in order to get results, while meeting the needs and objectives of not only the patient but the organization as well.

Most if not all research will be based on some type of assumption that is philosophical and there should be a question asked about what constitutes valid research? That is where this particular class has helped me in these few short weeks. As an administrator I would be responsible for designing or using studies that should be descriptive, interpretive, and I should be able to build studies that will be analyzed through qualitative or quantitative methods. I would be responsible of collecting data that has been received either by myself, staff, senior management, or by the patients themselves. Once the data is collected I must then interpret the data to make sure as an organization we are making the right plans, conducting the right actions, meeting objectives, representing our mission, and hitting our milestones.

Not only would my position require me to do research, analyze, and interpret data but, to also understand trends in health care by knowing about mean, modes, range, and standard deviations. By knowing where my data sits will allow me as an administrator to make the best decision needed for my staff, if I were to ever have any, my organization, and most of all, the patients. By knowing these principles I can determine such things like how to effectively appropriate funds.
