Definition of Terms

The health care environment is constantly changing, new systems arise every day with terminology of their own to reflect the changes. As a health care professional, it is important for you to stay up-to-date with the terminology and its proper use.

Term Definition

Finance/Accounting System (FA) The Finance/Accounting system is integrated with the computer technology. The system is implemented by using the information technology into the finance and accounting aspect. The FA systems are used by many organizations to keep track of financial transactions. Income statements and balance sheets are generated by the financial data. The importance of FA system is that any business entity is required manage their financials in order to stay in existence.

Human Resource Management System (HRM) HRM is a system involving the Human Resources’ functions created in to computerized system. This system includes many traditional HR functions as payroll, recruiting, hiring, and training and so on. HRM is important first step in putting staff together that can move the business into established goal (Begin, 1992).

Inventory Control Management System (ICM) ICM is about managing inventory in an organization. The system is set up to provide accuracy in the inventory held within the company. There are lot of detail parameters set for on hand inventory, in route inventory, and arriving of new inventory. Bar codes on the inventory items has increased the ease of keeping merchandise with accuracy (Kelleher, 2004).
