ITEC 2320 Final Project Deliverables

You have been tasked with the job of designing the new network layout for R2I’s new location.

R2I has a fractional T1 line that enters the premises at Site B. R2I has acquired two public IP addresses (it does not matter for the sake of this assignment what these addresses actually are).

Answers submitted for the deliverables should be based on best practices presented in the book/class up to this point. Anything submitted as a deliverable should be of your own creation (citations do not remove this requirement).

Deliverables – All answers should be in your own words. Cut-n-paste or extensively quoted answers will not receive credit.

1. Explain how VLANs will be used on the switches to create three virtual broadcast domains containing the administrative staff in VLAN10, general employees in VLAN 20, and sales staff in VLAN 30. How will the router be used to route traffic between these broadcast domains created by the VLANs? (25 points)

2. Using the 192.168.3.0/24 network and the additional information found in question 1, create a diagram showing all computers and networking equipment with addresses and subnet masks (remember each VLAN or router interface should be a separate subnet). (25 points)

3. Create a simple security template containing 5 suggestions for securing the network from external threats (this should contain the addition of a hardware security appliance such as a firewall, software including anti-virus, and policies for employees – any equipment or software should include specific model information) (25 points)

4. Provide a plan containing at least 5 points for maintaining and monitoring the network (25 points)
