Ethics and Moral

Ethics is defined as set of rules or principles that help guide us as to how we ought to act in a society. Moral is defined as conduct of duty such as good and bad actions towards self and others (Trevino & Nelson, 2007). Ethical issue such as workplace discrimination is of great concern because workplace ought to be neutral and be fair towards all employees with their treatment. “Discrimination is an ethical issue—beyond any legal protections—because it’s at the core of fairness in the workplace. While concepts of fairness are incorporated in business law around the world, in the United States fairness is considered to be an “inalienable” right” (Trevino & Nelson, 2007, pp. 70). If businesses are not fair in treating employees there will be little to no order and businesses will treat according to their needs and wants. Ethics helps determine how we are going to treat ourselves and other and string foundation makes a difference between knowing right from wrong. Moral issues are those which are based on act as in action that will cause harm or good. For example, killing another human being is immoral because no one has the right to take a life. In past few years, we have seen increased violence at workplace and at schools in which people get frustrated and take matter in their own hands to resolve problems.

There are numerous doctrines or religious facts one can use to support ethics and morals because we all get our values from various sources such as religion, peers, family, friends, school, and people in our society etc. These values help us shape into what we become over time and for some people these things are not taught in life which leads to picking and choosing morals as they please. Personal ethics is knowing what is right from wrong, and how it impacts yourself and others in the community.
