Decisions in Paradise Part 1

Outback Steakhouse is considering expanding their operations to Kava, an Island country in the South Pacific. The paradise is no more, because of environmental disasters and natural disasters. We are not only dealing with disasters, but also with many other obstacles, such as a diverse mix of ethnicity, religion, language, and age. Becoming a greater presence in Kava can either produce a very positive outcome that can transform the lives of an entire culture or not be any help at all and stay the way it currently is.

Outback Steakhouse is a source of strength in times of crises and we can always be counted on to do our part to enhance the quality of life in our neighborhoods. We are involved in our neighborhood in maintaining an active and visible presence. We take great pride in giving back. We have a strong dedication to improve the quality of life in each of our communities. Being good neighbors is more than just an idea; it is the driving force in how we do business (Outback Steakhouse, 2010). We take pride in our neighborhood. Delivering this commitment makes the community proud of us and drives our goal of being a valued corporate citizen and neighbor. Before Outback Steakhouse can expand to the island of Kava there are some issues that need to be addressed.

Natural/Environmental Issues

Kava’s environment is not ideal for many organizations, natural disasters such as typhoons, floods, fires, tsunamis, hurricanes, and volcanic eruptions occur on the island. To ensure the companies’ buildings can withstand such natural disasters, the restaurant can build on higher elevations with material that can endure such natural disasters. It would also be important for Outback Steakhouse to protect their employees by implementing safety procedures, and work with local authorities in case of emergency crises situations.
