Information Systems and Software Applications

Intro

Technology has a huge affect on the way businesses are managed. Technology has provided millions of software applications and systems that can be used for personal and work related purposes. Information systems and software applications are used by millions because it is new and it is faster to generate data. There are several different roles of an organization that are needed in order for businesses to grow, profit, and succeed. Among the many roles that are within a company, the three main ones that will be discussed throughout the paper are: Human Resources, Accounting, and Marketing. These three particular roles play a major part in how organizations function, without these roles organizations would be unsuccessful.

Human Resources

Human resources are the branch that is responsible reviewing all the applications and resumes as well as considering who would be the best applicant for the job. HR is also in charge of running background checks, drug tests, and orientation. Additionally this department manages all of the employees’ information. For example, HR will keep track of requested time off or vacation time.

Accounting

Accounting is responsible for payroll, accounts payable and receivable, paying bills, and budgeting. They are responsible for keeping track of employees hours worked and pay rate. Their duties also require that him or her process payroll, which means verifying all the necessary information such as hours and pay rate are correct before entering the data and sending it off. Another part of Accountings job is paying the organizations bills or collecting money that is owed to the organization. Some examples of software that are used in this department are peach tree, quicken, and excel.
