1.I suppose I would first study the customs and courtesies of the country, which I was transferring to familiarize myself with what is normal behavior. Being a relatively low context culture here in America, we tend to focus on spoken language explicitly and are rather oblivious to body language, situational details and queues in vocal inflictions, enthusiasm, etc.… I would be extremely important for me to practice noticing these non-verbal queues, and consider everything mentioned above during an exchange between my new high context culture job location and myself. I would maybe even seek out a professional who could help me understand how a person in a high-context culture reads a situation, perhaps role playing scenarios, and then also try an learn how the high-context culture person is reading my behavior. I would shadow and observe the interactions and seek council from the individual I was shadowing to gain insight on the interaction. I would practice the skills I am trying to learn in situations that would not affect me in a negative light, ie. Outside the professional environment first and then slowly transitions the skills into the workplace.

2. I decided to choose competing and collaborating. These are two personality traits that have proved to be very effective for me in my work history. I have been able to balance the assertiveness in both these team management traits by identifying the time that the scope of work needs the team to be more competitive, and also identifying when it is necessary for the team to transition in to a collaborative position. I think if you can actively motivate a team, and when team members take a vested interest in whatever project they are tasked with completing, it is almost second nature to get a read on each other and identify when someone is being to competitive.
