Deliverables

1. Overview of Organization (approx. 1/2 page): Provide a descriptive overview of your organization.

2. Key Issue/Problem Assessment (approx 2-3 pages, excluding graphics/tables): Using the IS Strategy Triangle presented in the text; provide a high level assessment of the key issue/problem being addressed. Your discussion should be broken down as followed:

➢ Business Strategy: Provide an overall assessment of the key issue/problem being addressed. This issue/problem can be either intra- OR inter-organizational in orientation. For instance, an intra-organizational issue could be inventory management or production planning while an inter-organizational problem could be either a business-to-business (e.g., supply chain management) or business-to-consumer (e.g., customer service) interaction. Next, discuss how/why addressing this particular issue/problem will enhance this organization’s business strategy. You can use either one of Porter’s Generic Strategies or D-Aveni’s hypercompetition model to frame this discussion.

➢ Organizational Strategy: Discuss which strategic areas within an organization will be affected by addressing this key issue/problem. It might be helpful to apply either the business diamond or managerial levers framework to frame this discussion. Note: given the limited scope of your particular issue/problem, there is no need to provide a comprehensive discussion of either framework.

Just limit your discussion to the key areas that will be affected by the issue/problem.

➢ IS Strategy: The current use of information technology (IT) (or lack thereof) as it applies to the issue/problem being addressed. This discussion can include both hardware and software components.
