Cattle Ranchers:

*Raise caws for Brazilian beef- made 1.5 billion in 2003

* *When there is no more grass- move to new area of land with more grass/ no trees

Settlers:

*Soil is poor in nutrients- water washes away all nutrients- hard to grow crops

*No one likes them- thy take up too much room

*Poor people lived in the cities- government encouraged them to move

*Thought it would be nice to own land- but extremely hard life

*Use the land- do not destroy it- there is no long-term damage

*Newcomers bring diseases and ruin their homes from land use

*People are moving in and impending on the way they are living their lives, hurting their culture

*want to protect the land from those who want to harm it.
