Movies, games, and television programs are everyday topics that provide much violence in society and have an impacting effect upon others. The violence from movies and games are violent advertisements influencing children to act violently. The viewings from media violence mislead the children and youth to do mindless and aggressive actions, thinking it is acceptable and a part of daily life. Today’s media violence does promote a lasting affect towards children based on their reactions from the media.

Children are affected by media violence in numerous ways. Many studies have shown children who observe the media violence tend to behave more aggressively than those in control groups. They become exposed to many violent programs and explicit songs from their parents, family, or others they are around (http://www.naeyc.org). Children are witnesses to violent acts on television, from being abused, violent acts in communities and homes, and even personal assaults (Grossman 24-27). Children are also being exposed to weapon-like toys and other products linked to violent programming. Viewings of videotapes, games, television and other sources of media violence are directed towards children and seem to be a learning tool for them (http://www.naeyc.org). The media is a failure for presenting violence on television, the internet, and the radio. Therefore, children are exposed to media violence from everyone around them and surroundings that include much violence and seem to be their vital learning tool.

One impact of children being exposed to media violence is from playing violent video games. Parents fail to check ratings of games, having a poor affect on letting their children play violent video games (www-personal.umich.edu).
