1. (TCO A) We have business pressures in digital firms that require information systems solutions. Review the evolution of information technology solutions that address the business pressures from a strategic and tactical perspective. (Points: 50)

Although the healthcare industry is just being recognized as a “digital firm,” many may beg to differ. Nevertheless, I will use the healthcare industry and the pressures they incur that require information systems solutions. Doctors now are using specialized robotic surgical tool that now only allows them to perform surgery hands off, it allows them to perform surgery in the comfort of their own homes. Such technology is now known as robotic surgery. Also known as computer assisted surgery, robotic surgery is used in minimally invasive surgery and it is a cost effective way for all physicians to perform surgery without having to mandate time dedicated to that specific task, which would maximize the use of that physician.

2. (TCO B) Provide a business scenario that explains how information systems are used for strategic advantages by an organization. Include the business processes and relationships between information systems and the organizations it serves. (Points: 50)

When analyzing global organizations, such as the NFL, Social Media sites (Facebook), and the education system, there are many of examples one can state when discussing how information technology has enhanced business processes and the management of these processes globally.

The NFL, National Football Association, has adopted the 5 large components to the way the game is conducted.
