Personality Assessment and Theories

There are four key theories of personality. There is Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Trait, and Social Learning. These four signify mostly all of the assessment tests that are used. Psychodynamic theory is a psychological method to personality assessment. The basis of the psychodynamic theory is measurement of the unconscious thoughts, feelings, and motives. This theory also determines struggles and represses difficulties from early life. The psychodynamic theory measures through use of the projective tests and personal interview techniques.

Humanistic theory is a theory that considers personality as a personal determination to do better for one’s own benefit. The humanistic theory is based on the belief that the personality is a determination regarding personal growth and greater amounts of functioning. The humanistic theory assesses through utilization of the objective tests and personal interviews.

Trait theory is a theory that believes personality is connected to some enduring personalities within each individual. The trait theory would explain the various distinctions in our personalities such as how we think and act. The trait theory maintains the idea that there are individual characteristics. With this idea, the individual characteristics are considered to be the reason for our individual ways of thinking and acting. The trait theory is assessed through use of the objective tests.

Social Learning theory is based on the belief that personality is made by past reinforcement and punishment. The social learning theory also upholds that the personality is formed by studying what happens to other people around an individual. The social learning theory is assessed through interviews, objective tests, and observations.

This test in my opinion is an objective test because it is based on facts rather than thoughts or opinions. When answering the questions truthfully it is based on facts about the person. I myself...
