In every organization you find different leadership style that affect group communication, there are styles that promote group communication; leaders in those styles encourage creativity, innovation and are open to new ideas, which improve in general the whole group communication, on the other side there are leadership styles that can slow down group communication.

Howard Schultz the founder of Starbucks coffeehouse is an authentic leader “who knows who he really is, what he believes in and values, he acts on those beliefs and values openly and candidly, his followers consider him ethical person” (Robbins & Judge, 2007, p.441). Howard leadership style was born from his childhood; he was born in a very poor family with little money both parents worked for a long hours to support the family, while growing he witnessed his father’s self-esteem fracture from the unrespectable way of treatment by his employers, and the difficulties he went through when he was sick because he had no insurance. His desire of protecting people was growing with him and that led to his foremost values. When he founded a Starbucks his first priority was providing health insurance and retirement coverage for part-timers as well as full-timers. He wanted his employees to feel respected and appreciated.

When Howard bought the Starbucks Chain stores, he had a different mission and vision than the previous owner, he shared his vision with his employees, he motivated them, he had individualized consideration for each of them as a result they trusted him and became loyal to the organization, and this is the transformational style.
