Background and Brief History of Venezuela: huddleston

Within the past week, a massive hurricane devastated Venezuela’s northern coastline from the north east city of Tucupita to the far north western city of Coro, a distance of approximately 700 miles. This natural disaster prompted USSOUTHCOM to issue a declared contingency force of approximately 5000 personnel from across the Department of Defense to assist with humanitarian operations with an emphasis on infrastructure repair in the affected oil producing regions.

The mission of this contingency contracting office is to provide a dedicated team of professionals capable of locally acquiring the items needed to support the mission of the Joint Task Force with regard to humanitarian operations. The team will provide ethical, prudent, and salient advice to the JTF Commander, requirements personnel, and appointed Contract Officer Representative (COR) personnel about operating within the standards of conduct with regard to declared contingency operations.
