World Religions:

Being in this class has taught me many different things about other people’s religion and beliefs. In the beginning I had a dislike for this class as I do not like to discuss religion as it usually causes you to have a disagreement with the person you are talking to.

The bible is one thing that I will not argue about as it is God’s word and I think that it is alright to discuss the bible or religion but not argue about it.

This class has given me a better understanding of all the different denominations and their beliefs and not to form an opinion hastily about them as they have a right to believe any way they want to.

We must accept the fact that people are different and so are their religion and respect that fact. People should not be judged for what they were taught to believe in or what denomination they are but for the person they are.

I try and encourage people with my belief by telling them that God is always there with them and for them and will continue doing that.

Some of the rituals performed by different denominations are hard for me to understand such as taking a life or cutting off a hand as I don’t think that God meant for us to cause pain or suffering to another human being.

Hopefully someday the religions will come to a better understanding of each other and not do or say things that might offend people of other denominations.

It is important to know a person’s religion to get a better understanding of how they accept not only religion but other matters of the heart that goes with believing such as being kind to people.

Learning about the religions of the world made me realize how arbitrary adherence to religion is. It is almost always an accident of birth. Hindus will raise children to be Hindus; Shintos will raise children to be Shintos; Christians will raise Christians; it's all learned behavior and passed on from...
