Environmental Scan Paper
The purpose of this paper is to explain and define the internal and external environments of different companies. In workforce planning, environmental scanning helps the companies develop the understanding of the internal and external environment needed to determine whether the business needs of the companies are in sync with the availability, and competency of the workforce.
Furthermore, of what will be discussed are the competitive advantages and strategies the companies are using, along with creating value, and sustaining competitively through business strategies. Another topic that will be discussed is the measurement guidelines the companies use to verify that their strategic effectiveness, and how effective these measurement guidelines are for these companies.
The Internal and External Environments
The internal and external environmental scan helps to understand what the company’s internal needs and assets are, and the external environment is in which the companies are operating in. Environmental scan helps to provide companies with forming their visions, help with figuring out their Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT).
A comprehensive environmental scan includes:
* Forecasting business trends
* Conducting internal and external scans
* Describing the current workforce
* Projecting workforce supply and demand
Company number 1: The Los Angeles Times, external environments which are using information about events, trends, and relationships in a company’s external environment. This also includes economic, demographic, political legisiative, social and cultural, competitive dynamics, and technology influencing the business market.
