I pray that this subject isn’t a sensitive one for anyone and if it is, I apologize ahead of time if my views affect you in anyway. I have always felt that children are a product of their environment. Even though I feel this way, I also feel that a child has learned behaviors. There has always been much debate in relation to homosexuality and whether it is a trait that individuals are born with or a behavior that has been learned over time. Both biological and psychological theorists have done extensive research on this issue to determine validity of their positions. “Biological theorists have found substantial instances of anatomical, genetic, and endocrine evidence to support their argument.” (Johnson, 2003) In 1957, Karen Hooker did a study to explore homosexuality and its relationship between psychological development and illness. She used a sample group of both homosexuals and heterosexuals. At the end of the study, Hooker’s study showed that there was no correlation between social determinism and sexuality. For the purposes of my viewpoint I will use the Behavioral Theory. Do I feel that a person’s genetic makeup affects their sexual orientation? I would have to say “probably”. Do I feel that a baby can be born a homosexual with homosexual tendencies? I’m not so sure. Due to my spiritual beliefs I believe that God designed all of us in our respective genders for a reason. Adam and Eve were created for a reason. Yes, they were designed to procreate however; I feel that God made Eve because he knew that Adam would desire a mate. He made Eve as a mate for Adam which if taken further could mean that he made a woman to be a mate for a man. To go a step further, he made our bodies anatomically in tune with each other for a purpose. I believe it is meant for children to grow up and see the strong bond between a man and a woman. This is what starts to solidify the male/female roles in a child’s mind. In reference to babies, I don’t know if I believe...
