As Time Marches On

Within the colliding worlds of the Indians, Spanish, French and American Colonists there were fireworks but none greater than the ones from the British homeland. In 1764 the American Revolution becomes the next wave of growth and destruction. This time period created a sense of belonging, a period of independence and a period of development. While the Motherland still believed she was the driving force of the colonists, the Americans retaliated with a quest toward freedom. Parliament believed the colonists owed them repayment for the cost of helping with wars and therefore hammer down, imposing taxes and rules. This was a red flag for the colonists and the feelings of distrust and contempt led to the development of a stronger militia, the Continental Army and the establishment of protection.

Since the Colonial Era the British government felt they were in complete control of America and the colonists were a way to bring in new revenue for Britain. The colonists were a little confused about their identity, were they independent or still British citizens? As time went on the strangle hold by Britain got tighter and tighter. The colonists feeling like prisoners on their own land felt that breaking away was the only option. The colonists knew this would not be an easy task and assumed they would need to put up a fight and therefore reestablished a stronger militia. These militias were rooted from their British upbringing that all able-bodied men would defend their community from any invasion. These militiamen as they were called helped in the fight against the Indians for the control of land and now they will have to fight for freedom. The British government was extremely hostile.
