Methodology

The author has used secondary data to study the topic of job satisfaction and employee attitudes. He has chosen his topic of study for further research from the study of HR professionals Rynes, Collbert and Brown, 2002. As well as his own experience studying the research gaps in the area of job satisfaction. These knowledge gaps are (1) causes of employee attitude (2) positive negative results of job satisfaction and (3) how to measure and influence employee attitude. Each area the author has provided are scientific review of the research already done by renowned practitioners in identifying the research gaps and how to overcome them.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The author has pointed out three knowledge gaps; the first one is the cause of employee attitude. Though in HR a lot of work has been done in this area. Yet the influence of job satisfaction on the work (itself) is overlooked by the most of the practitioners of the field. In regard to the dispositional influence on job satisfaction, the author has propounded from the study of several researches that their exist a statistical relationship between personality and job satisfaction. Therefore selection method can ensure a good selection between employee and job. Likewise culture has also influence on employee attitude and job satisfaction. Cited the work of Hofstede (1980-1985) in which Hofstede had studied the attitude of employees in 67 countries and group that data in four dimensions i-e; (1) individualism and collectivism (2) uncertainty avoidance versus risk taking (3) power distance or the extent to which power is unequally distributed and (4) Masculinity/Femininity which are also called achievement orientation.
