Background information

Water is Life (WIL) is an international non-governmental organisation, which is funded by the Norwigian government in association with local businesses, and faith based organisations. Water is Life currently provides seed money and technical support to build capacity and expand community led public health programmes in select countries of sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia.

Water is life mission statement

Water is Life mission is to support communities in sub Saharan Africa to have excess to clean and safe water. Its overall goal is improving the health of communities in sub Saharan Africa and south East Asia trough the provision of safe water. As part of the central strategy of water is life is the integration of multiple approaches as the most effective means of addressing the problem of lack of adequate public health. Its major focus however is on the eradication of water born diseases through the provision of adequate clean water, provision of adequate health facilities (medical personal and adequate drugs) and improving good hygienic practices.WIL promotes participatory approaches to project development and implementation because it seeks to involve people who will take part in and will be affected by the project throughout the entire processes.

Justifcation of project

The recent out breaks of cholera, malaria and bilharzias in Zimbabwe has caused WIL to send a team to assess the situation and devise and implement an intervention projects with the help of the community.Chiweshe District is ranked the number one with the highest incidents and deaths caused by water borne diseases So it seems the best place to start
