Historical impact on working conditions

Introduction

Work is an important part of anyone's life, and people work to make ends meet. When individuals work, they acquire wages that in turn leads to a change in their lifestyle. In the late 1700s, there were various aspects of working conditions that emerged that ultimately led to the modification and improvement of the working conditions in this modern era. Therefore, this paper will focus on the poor working conditions, the prevalence of child labor, and the indecorous working and pay conditions for women in the late 1700s that eventually led to the improvement in the working conditions experienced today. From the harsh working conditions in the late 1700s, some aspects of the improved working conditions will also be described in this paper to show the significant milestones that have been made to date.

In the late 1700s, there was the dominance of poor working conditions among many workers that in turn led to deplorable living conditions among the employees. Poor working conditions were especially dominant among factory employees. There was minimal government regulation in the companies that resulted in unsafe and unhealthy working sites for the personnel in the plants. The workers in the factories had to endure long hours of work, the working conditions were also poor, and they faced job instability. The work that was done in the industries was monotonous as one task was repeatedly performed for an extended period and was strictly controlled too. The working hours among the employees was also very long and averaged for ten hours a day for six days without the workers resting. The working hours was even longer for other employees (Carson & Bonk, 2003). For the individuals who practiced farming in the era, it was especially challenging for them as farm work tended to be flexible and it provided different work tasks.
