Physical Education: Performance Analysis Task 2.4

Assignment 5 – Strengths and Weaknesses

Sport: Gaelic Football

Introduction

Throughout this assignment I will carry out an analysis of a one of my matches that I used in the notational analysis to try and identify my strengths and weaknesses. Firstly I will show the match from the notational analysis assignment then analysis this match under the four components of performance to identify the strengths and weaknesses. I will focus on the four components of performance when judging my performance in order to identify my strengths and weaknesses. The four components of performance are: physiological, technical, tactical and psychological. I will also compare my own my own strengths and weaknesses to other elite performers in Gaelic Football and draw up conclusion from this. After the end of this assignment I will draw up an action of what I am going to do to try improve on my weaknesses and to maintain my strengths at the best of their ability.

With regards to the physiological component of performance I will look how I coped physically with the match with regards to my fitness, if I was physically able to dominate my opponent and others, if I was able to meet the physical demands expected of me regarding my positional play, if I tired towards the end of the match and my ability to recover from intense periods of activity.

With regards to the technical component of performance I will look at my ability to perform the core skills in Gaelic Football with particular attention to the skills used in assignment 1, how well my techniques held under pressure, how well my specific positional skills impacted upon the success of the team, the technical elements that were unsuccessful, and what I observed from other performers in terms of technical proficiencies.
