Fuel Sources

The information that I acquired concerns the gasoline problem and different ways of solving it or reducing the problem. The information about Shell Company’s V-power and Aloha Petroleum’s non-ethanol gasoline are two companies that have a great idea to reduce the carbon emissions and provide quality gas to many customers. People have also studied that ethanol is widely used in two different ways, which are corn based and cellulosic ethanol. Another article about efficient fuel source with hydrogen, which is used for about 2% of the world’s global energy, suggests it can be used if we use all we have for about 20% of the world’s transportation. Natural gases are another idea about the carbon emission issue.

Many companies are trying to create their own quality gasoline or fuel source for their customers to easily commute with. One company that is doing this trail is Shell. Their fuel has a 91-octane juice. Shell is using V-power which replaced Opit-Max because of its efficiency. “The new V-Power brand will maybe increase the level of business” said Dentia Davis, Shell’s manager of public affairs for Ontario. The V-Power fuel is to get people to buy better, premium gas for the greater good. (Law)

Another company that also tries to create their own quality gasoline is a local business from Hawaii called Aloha Petroleum. Hawaii’s laws states that gasoline should contain at least 10% ethanol in it. Hawaii has gasoline with ethanol in 85% of gases. With boaters and fishermen’s engines that have fiberglass fuel tanks and marine engines, which react poorly with ethanol, asks for gas without ethanol. Thus, Aloha got permission from the state to have some gas without ethanol and provided it to boaters and fishermen. (ALOHA)

Scientists around the world are still looking for alternatives to gasoline and crude oil because of the massive carbon emissions that humans have added. Some are talking about using hydrogen as a fuel source. One...
