Legislation is law. Legislative is a very important role in the parliament house. Legislation is the process of making the law. Legislation is a term which refers to laws called the acts or also statues endorsed by parliament (Global, 2012). In the Parliament of Australia there are two houses the lower house and the upper house. The lower house is the Legislative Assembly or in the states it is referred as house of Assembly and in the commonwealth the lower house is the House of Representatives. Then the upper house which in the state is referred as the legislative council and in the Commonwealth it is called the senate. As in Australia there are six states and two Territories meaning there is a different legislature for each state and territory and then there is the main Legislature meaning there are a total of nine legislatures in Australia (Global, 2012). The commonwealth Parliament is the main Legislature and for the states legislature it is Parliament of and the name of the state for example for Queensland it will be Parliament of Queensland. As of Territory it is the Legislative Assembly of Northern Territory and Legislative Assemble of Australian Capital Territory.

Parliament House of Australia is located in Canberra, ACT (Australian Capital City). This place is a meeting place for the members of parliament and also a symbol of Australia Democracy (Parliamentary Education Ofiice, 2015). In the parliament house of Australia there is the senate and the House of Representatives. In the Senate there are a total of 78 members and those 76 members add up from 12 from each of the states and two from the mainland territories. Senators have the power to make the laws with the House of Representatives (Parliament of Australia, 2015). The role of the Senate is to review and keep a powerful check on the government of the time (Parliament of Australia, 2015).
