“In case I don’t see ya’: good afternoon, good evening and good night.” With that, Truman chuckled heartily, spun around and pranced through the door and into the abyss. Reality awaited him.

An eerie moment of silence followed. All of a sudden Truman was assaulted by a barrage of excited voices. He found himself in an enormous warehouse with the garish light of fluorescent globes flaring down on him. The various television employees who filled the vast space cried out: “Hi Truman”. Truman remained stationary. Salty sweat trickled down his forehead as his heart beat raced. A stream of tears flowed from his eyes. Truman gazed straight ahead as the salty liquids engulfed his face. Observing the huge shed, he noticed a door marked exit at the far end of the space.

Truman began to stride towards it. He soon hastened his pace. In seconds Truman was sprinting towards it like a prison escapee fleeing the vicious hounds at his heels. Yet, not a single other person in the room stirred. They remained motionless statues. Speechless, they gaped at Truman as he ran straight as a ship’s mast to the exit door. They stared in silence as he left behind all that he knew and all that he had ever known.

Upon reaching the door Truman glanced up at the exit sign, smiled and sighed wholeheartedly for the first time in his entire life. He then fixed his eyes upon a banner which hung above the door on which the following words were written: “Uno pro omnes, omnes pro uno.” Truman leapt into the air and in one swift movement tore down the poster and shredded it to pieces. He grinned and took a long, deep breath. With this, Truman pushed through the exit door.

Outside the Californian sun shone and the summer breeze swept by. Truman stared directly ahead and a single tear rolled down his cheek. In front of him stood Sylvia. Speechlessly they hugged each other, as do long lost lovers, for what seemed an eternity. At this moment of embrace Truman came to the realisation that he had found his...
