Am I free in writing this paper?

According to Baron D’Holbach no, I am no free in writing this paper. He believes that there is no free will that laws govern all. He made an example stated that when Socrates jail door was unlocked and he had all the reasons and abilities to leave he did not, this was not in act of freewill it was an act of a predetermined action. He knew that he were to run away that he would be losing face and no upholding the destiny set out for him by the gods. Nevertheless, any action that were to have taken place would have all ready be predetermined no by the person themselves but the laws of nature. I agree with Holbach, we are not free. There is and will always be something that has a driving force on our actions. If we were to have an idea, was it really our own idea that we thought up? Where did it originate? God is that law that governs all. I know God grants us freewill, if not there is no glorification in that for God, but everything we do has already been predetermined. I could say that I am not free in writing this paper because Tim has assigned it as homework and if I do not do it I will receive a zero for it consequently causing me to lower my grade in philosophy which could potentially lower my GPA which will ultimately not allow me acceptance into to Medical School, leaving me feeling rejected. But that is not the case, really God knows that I will write this paper for whatever reason it may be, because of my guilty conscience, or because what ultimately could happen if do not, or because the other girl in class received the credit for not writing this essay be she was clever enough to ask the right question so making me have to write mine, or just because I had time on my hands this weekend and decided to be productive. Regardless of the reasons, no I am not free in writing this essay. It was predetermined a long time ago by God.
