One of the sensational crimes of the 20th century was the kidnapping of Charles Augustus Lindbergh, who was the oldest son of Charles and Ann Morrow. During the time if kidnapping the son was 20 months old and this happened in his home one evening on March 1st, 1932. Two months later the kidnapped body of the toddler was discovered some few miles from Lindbergh’s home. After the body had been taken through thorough medical examination, it was found that the death was, as a result, of fracture of the skull (Roensch, 2004).

Police were involved thoroughly in the investigation of the kidnapping and the cause of the Lindbergh death. Chief Harry Wolfe was the first to arrive at the scene and was later joined by New Jersey state police officer. The police were involved in searching the home and the surrounding areas miles away. In the process of the investigation, police discovered carpenter's chisel and some foot impression which leads to a certain ladder that was used to climb a nursery window. The FBI also noticed an outsole impression of a show on the wet ground near the nursery bed. The police response to this scenario is that it was an inside job that the kidnappers were aware of the location of the baby nursery (Fensch, 2014).

In the process of interrogation, the police become suspicious of marrows maid knew as violet sharp. She lied to the officers about where she was on the night the baby was kidnapped. She contradicted herself by saying she went to the movies, but she could not recall the name of the film. The maid later changed the story line and told the police she had gone to the visit a roadhouse with Brinkert but Brinkert denied it after she was asked by the police. When the corpse of the baby was discovered sharp was so disturbed, and when police came to interrogate her further, they found her dead by having swallowed the cyanide.
