Introduction

The following information will evaluate the book by Robert Banks and Bernice Ledbetter, Reviewing Leadership: A Christian Evolution of Current Approaches. Banks received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and is serving as director and dean of Macquarie Christian Studies Institute in Sydney, Australia. Ledbetter received her Ed.D. from Pepperdine University and is the former director of the De Pree Leadership Center at Fuller Theological Seminary. Currently she is Practitioner Faculty in Organizational Theory and Management at Pepperdine University and principal of Ledbetter Consulting Group.

Abstract

Boiling down this book may prove to be a bit of challenge. While the information is good, it’s not spectacular. There are some areas where it seems the book could have and maybe should have ended. While the authors do a good job of reviewing leadership as a whole, it does not appear they spend much time on the Christian aspect of leadership. Granted the authors try and relate what topics they can to faith, the overall tone seems to be more generic and politically correct in some areas. The authors give a brief overview of women and leadership to which they provide good statistics, however, it is unclear how this information fits into the larger picture of a Christian evaluation of leadership.
