Date rape is not quite “epidemic”, or should I say rampant in the Philippines. Although Rape is not a new word in our vocabulary! The most common rape case here in our country is incest, where one of the family members of the victim does it. But we can associate date raping with rape occurring during “eye ball meeting” done by text mates or chat mates. What’s common with all rape cases is that the victim is afraid to open the situation. Maybe due to trauma, or even fear, but who really knows. Although security sets in when people who cares are supportive of your fight for justice. Our administration is very supportive of fighting occurrences of rape. The only problem with other people is that rarely do they believe the rape victims; maybe that could be one associative reason why the victim refuses to report assault.

I agree with the author when he said that drugs could be a contributing factor to these rape occurrences. And one should be brave enough to counteract the “act”, even to the extent that no one actually believes because as said, drugs such as those don’t leave traces of its chemical composition after 72 hours! Who distributes this kind of drugs anyway? Besides the fact that pharmacists or drug stores should know the action, side effects of these drugs, they shouldn’t be selling them without a prescription. This is where the real problem sets in…but if we can’t prevent the drug selling and buying, maybe we can control the people using it. If we suspect, mostly the victims, who the ones we are with are highly capable in doing these things, we should be careful enough to even be with them till night. Prevention is always better than cure, you know. Although these cases are difficult to prevent, we should always be cautious whom we are dealing with. Staying home at night is always a wise option. And if the unthinkable happened, as the author says, Act Quickly! Don’t be afraid to fight for your rights.
